Keizer Napoleon I verleent gelijke rechten – waaronder dit van godsdienstvrijheid – aan de Joodse inwoners, burgers, van Frankrijk. De Joodse eredienst werd hiermee ook officieel erkent op het Franse grondgebied. Het Engelstalige journal of the International Napoleonic Society (INS) verscheen een eerste maal in april 1997. Tot en met 2013 werd het telkens uitgebracht op papier, daarna enkel nog digitaal (PDF).
