Napoleon heeft op het eiland Sint-Helena (oktober 1815 &#8211; mei 1821) wel degelijk memoires geschreven (gedicteerd), maar deze hebben slechts betrekking op een deel van zijn leven. Het gaat hier niet om de boeken die de mensen die samen met hem op het eiland verbleven (later) geschreven hebben, noch over het <em>(le)<\/em> <em>M\u00e9morial de Sainte-H\u00e9l\u00e8ne<\/em> door Emmanuel[-Auguste-Dieudonn\u00e9, comte (graaf)] de Las Cases (1766-1842), dat verscheen in 1823, twee jaar na Napoleons overlijden.
